Kurt Hochenauer came to our blogging class today and spoke about his blog Okiefunk.com. Contrary to popular belief his blog is not about music. The name Okie funk comes from the want to put a twist on the conservative politics in America. Kurt offers a blog that offers a liberal opinion on recent news tops. He blogs three times a week as well as teaching a course at the University of Central Oklahoma. He continues to write freelance occasionally. Something interesting he said was probably his series called "rebels with a cause". In this writing series he takes other works of literature and makes them unique!
The number one thing to being a good blogger is being a good writer! Some advice i took from his presentation would be that he made comments on his blog only be via Facebook, this is to control spam. Also I liked how he talked about being yourself on your blog. A lot of people stereotyped him as liberal writer when he did not see himself as that but when he owned it, he started getting more attention to his writing. Also pimp your blog.. post links to Facebook or Twitter when you posts! This will increase traffic to your page!
