First off, I want to start by confessing that Yes, I am indeed the worst blogger of all time. Seeing as i haven't posted in over 5 weeks I am going to double post today. I know, it's unheard of but I think it will be nice for the readers.
As most of you know my main purpose in life is to do God's work on earth until I get to heaven. I live a typical normal life as most followers of Christ do. I go to church on the weekends, I consume myself in His word, Christian devotionals and also some Christian music throughout the week. However, I took one message that LifeChurch put out a couple weeks ago to heart as I feel God was really talking to me, We, as individuals of the church, rated ourselves as either spiritual consumers or spiritual contributors. I am ashamed to say I rated on the very high end of being a consumer and not a contributor. For the majority of my life I have consumed all that the church has to offer but only every so often when I volunteered for church camps or vacation bible school. I instantly knew I needed to make a change.
I wanted to make a difference as a follower of Christ. I did my research and started to realize I would love to work with the youth because of their energy and their liveliness. So three weeks ago I started working in SWITCH ministries at LifeChurch OKC. I absolutely fell in love with my first Wednesday night and honestly felt like a consumer again because of how fulfilling it was to lead some awesome girls. I look forward to everything God has in store for me this year as a SWITCH leader.
If you are on the edge of your seat about volunteering then I encourage you to do so. It is a rewarding experience.
