America,

America, the beautiful, the everything. Honest to goodness, I'm not boasting because I'm a southern girl who is all about 'merica, boots, beers and trucks... I'm boasting because how could we not. I mean we live in one of the worlds greatest countries. It's so tough to hear all the complaints everyone is constantly having about the way our country is run when we truly are so beyond blessed with freedom.

Yesterday I was at a seminar for my internship and I was sitting next to a guy who was from Korea. He was telling me how he keeps finding more internships and wants to go back to graduate school because he is on a visa and he does not want to return to Korea. It is crazy to think how proud he was to be working in America and to have received an education from here. I mean honestly so many people come to America to live out the dreams that their country wouldn't even allow that they make known.

Despite the debt we find ourselves in and all the trouble we may find with our military and government we do have so many more rights than any other country. I thought there is no better topic to talk about today with tomorrow being Independence Day.

I made a list of the top 7 things I love about growing up in the USA...
1. Religion... I consider myself to be non-denominational Christian but I find it so interesting that we can truly attend any type of church or religious ceremony we choose.
2. The food... We have the most diverse and fattening food in America but God it taste delicious.
3. The people... Now I know I live in the south but I'm not only talking about your good ole neighbor or aunt sally. I'm talking about the diversity. If you are in a large city in America you are truly surrounded by so many different heritages and cultures because of how many people have came to live in America.
4. First amendment.. I covered a little about it in my number one reason with freedom of religion but the freedom of the press is awesome. I have opinions and I love that I can make them heard.
5. The different parts of the US... I've traveled for sports my whole life and I've seen a great deal of America and I honestly couldn't pinpoint my favorite place to be.
6. The beauty of our history... Everyone knows the pilgrims and how America was discovered but the reality of it is all within the civil war, the Louisiana purchase, the Native Americans and so on and so forth.. it's such a beautiful journey.
7. Our protection... although the government may make decisions with our military we do not understand they always keep America protected even if it means putting themselves in danger.

All these things make the USA what it is... I'm so proud to be from this country. So the next time you hear someone talking about America badly or saying we have no culture and no hope.... send them my link. I'll be glad to give them a piece of my mind :)
